No other New Testament book is quite like James. Catchy, practical, and in your face, the book of James jumps straight into the nitty gritty of daily life. James takes the lofty doctrines of the gospel and brings them down to earth. You can’t read James without being confronted. James steps on your toes. At times, he punches you in the gut. More than anything, James wants you to do something with the faith you’ve been given…to make a difference. 

All of us face times when life doesn’t go as planned. In those seasons, our trust in God’s goodness is tested. We need a resilient faith to not just survive these times but to come through them with a deeper understanding of God and ourselves.

We live crowded lives in a chaotic world. Christmas can come and go with little thought of celebrating “the reason for the season.” It’s hard in our busy world to make room for important things. But, when we invite Jesus in, He renews our lives as we make room for the hope, peace, joy, and love that He brings.

Usually though, Christmas Carols are part of the background noise of Christmas…drowned out by the parties and presents, food, friends and fun. This Christmas we’re bringing them front and centre to see what they’re about: to see how the truths in these famous tunes give us the deepest reason to celebrate at Christmas.

What is God’s plan for caring for the poor, and raising kids and healing relationships? These are questions Christian have been facing since the founding of the church. From the books Acts we will see God’s answer. We are God’s plan A (and there is no plan B!) God is working through the church and to address the needs of the world.
